The Container Recycling Institute’s projects at bottlebill.org and container-recycling.org document active and proposed bottle bills in the US and abroad.

California’s proposed AB 1163

Would require manufacturers to make available sufficient service literature and functional parts to owners of the equipment, repair facilities, and service dealers.

New York’s proposed S3998B

Would have required manufacturers to make available parts and repair information to owners and independent repair providers in the same manner as they make these resources available to their authorized repair providers presently.

Repair.org

Repair.org promotes legislative efforts to enshrine the right to repair in state and federal law. They have published a model state right to repair law.

California Recycling Market Development Act

Reauthorizes a Recycling Sales Tax Exemption; reauthorizes the Recycling Market Development Zone Program; and establishes a “Statewide Commission on Recycling Markets and Curbside Recycling.”

California Bag Ban

Most grocery stores, retail stores with a pharmacy, convenience stores, food marts, and liquor stores will no longer be able to provide single-use plastic carryout bags to their customers.

California’s proposed SB 54 (2019)

Would require all single-use plastic packaging and products be reduced or recycled by 75 percent by 2030; require all single-use packaging and products be recyclable or compostable on and after 2030; and more.
