2.5.5 Community Choice Aggregation

LPDD Recommendation: “States should assure that each community is entitled to act as an aggregator of energy and energy services pro­vided by its citizens with the same rights to deliver wholesale energy and energy services as its citizens.”

LPDD Recommendation: “States should assure that each community may purchase or generate energy on behalf of its citizens directly or through contractual arrangements with third parties.”

Cape Light Compact

The Compact’s mission is to serve its 200,000 customers through the delivery of proven energy efficiency programs, effective consumer advocacy and renewable competitive electricity supply.

Medford, MA CCA

The Medford Community Electricity Aggregation program for residents and businesses begins in December 2019 and will go through December 2022. It allows Medford customers to “opt-up” into a 100% renewable energy tier.

CAL-CCA

The California Community Choice Association is an organization that a represents the interests of California’s community choice electricity providers in the legislature and at state regulatory agencies.

California Community Choice Aggregation

Established by 2002’s AB 117, California’s community choice aggregation program allows for communities to join together to purchase electricity on behalf of their community members.
