Legislative Best Practices for Automated Driving systems
The NHTSA has developed technical assistance on Automated Driving Systems, which includes a section on best practices for legislatures.
LPDD Recommendation: “DOT, NHTSA, or a combination of federal agencies must ensure that the nationwide deployment of autonomous vehicles will not be hindered by a patchwork of inconsistent state requirements.”
LPDD Recommendation: “Auto-ISAC or other private-sector actors may also fill a key role in advocating for best practices and consistency between state and federal requirements for automated vehicles.”
