The 2019 Rhode Island Greenhouse Gas Reduction Study updated on the previous 2016 study with a more accurate emissions baseline (accounting for gas leakage), and then modeled three decarbonization pathways for the state, seeking to reach near 100% carbon free by 2050, by 2040, and by 2030. The study’s major finding is that emissions could feasibly be reduced across all three timelines.
