The Dairy Digester Research and Development Program provides financial assistance for the installation of dairy digesters in California, which will result in reduced greenhouse gas emissions. In its 2016 Budget, the California Legislature appropriated $50 million for use in reducing methane emissions from livestock operations through the development of anaerobic digesters and the exploration on non-digester related options, of which $29-36 million was allocated to support the development of anaerobic digesters through the Dairy Digester Research and Development Program.
