California’s SB 350 (2015) ordered the PUC to direct the state’s six investor-owned electric utilities to file applications for programs that “accelerate widespread transportation electrification.” In response, the PUC adopted Decision 18-05-040, which approved $738 million in transportation electrification projects for the state’s electric utilities, which included the electrification of the medium- and heavy-duty sectors in PG&E and SCE service territory and a residential charging station rebate program for SDG&E’s customers. Decision 18-01-024 approved 15 “priority review” projects with combined budgets of $42 million, including a Level 3 charging urban clusters pilot. Decision 18-09-034 authorized the three small electric utilities to spend up to $7.33 million on eight transportation electrification programs, including utility funds and customer rebates for the installation of charging infrastructure.
