Connecticut’s Microgrid Grant and Loan Program (2012) has funded four rounds of grants to qualifying projects to study and build microgrids around critical facilities, defined as “any hospital, police station, fire station, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, public shelter or correctional facility, any commercial area of a municipality, a municipal center…” Qualifying municipalities may also be considered for funding from the Connecticut Green Bank. Several projects funded in the early rounds are now operational.
