DOE’s 2019 report, Energy Storage Technology and Cost Characterization, defines and evaluates cost and performance parameters of six battery energy storage technologies and four non-BESS storage technologies, including pumped hydro. Summaries of actual costs provided from specific projects at sites across the United States are provided, as well as detailed cost and performance estimates projected out to 2025.
