At present, EPA regulates iron and steel and primary metals production through New Source Performance Standards that cover, among other things, basic oxygen furnaces and electric arc furnaces at steel plants; electric arc furnaces at ferroallay production facilities; and primary aluminum reduction plants. These provisions reflect standards for particulate matter, carbon monoxide, and fluorides.
