Myriad transportation apps — like CityMapper, ridesharing, or public transit apps — know how our cities move about better than anyone, and yet they often protect that user data en masse. The Chancery Lane Project, a collaborative effort of UK lawyers to develop new contracts and model laws to help fight climate change, has published a model law granting an exemption to data privacy legislation in the UK for transportation planners looking to develop smarter, greener transportation policy. The model law is available in the attached volume at page 12 (“Mary’s Law”).
