One important influence on the adoption of green development is the required permission of various planning commissions. The Chancery Lane Project, a collaborative effort of UK lawyers to develop new contracts and model laws to help fight climate change, has published a model law amending existing UK law to provide a presumption in favor of the grant of planning permission where a development can demonstrate a particular level of green infrastructure. Green infrastructure includes green spaces, gardens, woodlands, wetlands, green roofs, and other natural features.
The model law is available in the attached volume at page 26 (“Olivia’s Law”).
