As part of New Jersey’s Stop the Soot campaign, the state installed a number of pollution-control devices on nonroad construction equipment used on selected NJ DOT projects. Executive Order 60 (2011) established a pilot program to reduce emissions from nonroad diesel powered equipment used in selected publicly funded state construction contracts. New Jersey’s Clean Construction Program provides funding for retrofits and modernization of off-road construction equipment, including 100% of the cost of retrofits on construction equipment, and up to 30% of the purchase price of new equipment.
