New York’s Methane Reduction Plan is the workproduct of five different state agencies working to develop proposals and policies to inventory emissions and identify strategies for methane capture and elimination. It focuses primarily on oil and gas, landfills, and agriculture. It lays out a platform to proceed with regulations that complement the EPA’s New Source Performance Standards for oil and natural gas emissions, new EPA standards for landfill emissions, and proposed New York State regulations for landfill management.
