New Mexico’s Healthy Soil Act 2019) creates a Healthy Soil Program within the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, administered by New Mexico State University. The program’s purpose is “to promote and support farming and ranching systems and other forms of land management that increase soil organic matter, aggregate stability, microbiology and water retention to improve the health, yield and profitability of the soils of the state.” It serves these purposes through grants, education, training workshops, and outreach.
