Ohio Rev. Code §4928.01(34)(c) names plants using “clean coal technology that includes the design capability to control or prevent the emission of carbon dioxide” as eligible alternative energy sources. Ohio’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard requires Ohio to procure 12.5% of its energy from qualifying sources by 2026. Note that Ohio House Bill 6 (2019) effectively repealed Ohio’s RPS, phasing out requirements by after 2026.
