Orlando’s Code of Ordinances (2016) requires benchmarking and, in some cases, audits and retrocommissioning. All covered properties, City-owned properties exceeding 10,000 sf and non-city owned properties exceeding 50,000 sf, are required to benchmark energy use using EPA’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager. The city makes public all the shared benchmarking information. Starting December 1, 2020, and annually thereafter, owners of covered properties that receive Energy Star benchmark scores lower than fifty will be notified and then required to perform an energy audit or retro-commissioning.
