DC’s Building Energy Performance Standard (2018)

Starting in 2021, owners of buildings over 50,000 square feet that are below a specific energy performance threshold will be required to improve their energy efficiency over the next 5 years.

St. Louis’ Building Energy Performance Standard (2020)

Requires large commercial, multi-family, institutional, and municipal buildings (50,000 sq. ft. and above) to reduce energy use in order to meet an energy performance standard by May 2025, which will be reviewed and updated every four years.

Requires that local jurisdictions within the Metro region adopt policies requiring covered businesses o source-separate and collect food waste and send it to an authorized facility.
