The proposed Wildfire Disaster Funding Act would shift where the funds to fight wildfires would be taken from. Rather than coming from agency funds dedicated to forest management, under the Act, fighting wildfires would be treated like any other natural disaster, and be funded out of general funds. This would generally relieve the ever-increasing funding burden on forest management budgets from worsening wildfire seasons.
