The Institute for Policy Integrity’s 2020 report, A Path Forward for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, advises that FERC should take an active role in better aligning regulatory practices with climate policies, speeding up development of necessary transmission infrastructure, and reforming energy market rules. The report identifies the statutory basis for several proposed reforms, including reforms related to carbon pricing, revising transmission policies, and reforming electricity market rules.
