The Ontario Clean Air Alliance’s 2020 report, Phasing-Out Ontario’s Gas-Fired Power Plants, presents an informative analysis of how a foreign jurisdiction might phase-out its gas plants. The study’s road map shows how Ontario can phase-out its gas plants by importing Quebec waterpower and by investing in energy efficiency and cost-effective renewable energy while meeting future electricity demand. The report projects being able to simultaneously phase-out the gas plants, achieve Ontario’s 2030 climate target, move the province towards a 100% renewable electricity grid and lower electricity bills.
