Seattle Public Utilities plans to use a fossil fuel-free, primary collection fleet by early 2020. The SPU “Green Fleet” will be made up of close to 200 contractor trucks powered by electricity, renewable natural gas and renewable diesel. The fleet includes two all-electric, full size recycling trucks. Seattle’s Metro Transit also completed a 2017 report detailing the feasibility of transiting to a completely zero-emission carbon-neutral bus fleet by 2034.
